Just Breathe

Just breathe.

When the memory of yesterday
clouds your heart and blocks your way,
just breathe.

When the tasks and projects and todos
stretch beyond what you can choose
and you fear you're bound to lose,
just breathe.

When the muddled tenets of belief
bring your mind not rest but grief,
just breathe.

When prayer becomes trite words spoken
instead of contrite heart broken
let go of the act, a paltry token,
just breathe.

The Spirit's presence is a mystery
creating a new future not mere history
so to open up your heart to see,
just breathe.
