It's been a month now since you left us. Saying that I miss you hardly does it justice, but I'll try to say goodbye to you in my own way.
The epitome of curiosity and adventure.
A zany goofball.
The truest friend of many.
A courageous man.
A heart of gold.
A living song.
A warm embrace.
The life of the party.
A master at your craft.
A builder of bridges, both physically and spiritually.
Your bear hugs.
Wrestling, running, playing games outside.
Your deep and intense gaze.
Your honest and open-ended questions.
Playing music with you.
Your "booming laugh."
How you made me, and everyone else, laugh.
In joining the Smith clan, I also felt like you invited me into your family.
You were so simple, so pure, yet so deep in your love.
You welcomed any and all with open arms.
You lived a reality that I cherish, God is love.
I love you. I miss you. And while I don't see you, I do believe that you haven't stopped being.
Maybe you're closer to the heart of love than you've ever been. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, the universe is a better place because of you. I am a better man, a better person, because of you.
Thank you for who you were, who you are.
I love you brother,
